It's really important to follow good ergonomic principles during our working hours at home or in the office, especially when you are pregnant. Obviously, here we would love to share some ergonomic tips with those pregnant office ladies. But right now if you have no experience of pregnancy, read it, for your pregnant friends or for your wife. Here are some tips for safe computing or posture for those pregnant women still at work.
Most of us may think a desk job for pregnant women is a luxury. Anyway, we do not need to be on a business trip or we do not need to be out on the feet for hours and we have no need to lift heavier objects. We are sitting in the office, much better working environments without extreme temperatures. Sitting in an office chair all day is still full of challenge and risk.
We need to sit straight, or keep a neutral body position, regardless of our condition. We can sit there, with our feet flat on the ground, and avoid such conditions like being bent, angled or cocked awkwardly. We need to avoid prolonged sitting in the chair. Just get up and stretch on a regular basis so that our legs and feet can be comfortable. Any poor circulation can lead to the discomfort that the legs just swell easily for pregnant women.
We need to take a comfortable seat, or a customized ergonomic chair and desk with very flexible adjustment. Check out the chair to make sure whether it has lumbar backrest, which can help reduce stain on our lower back. For pregnant office ladies, a footrest on the office chair is necessary, which can decrease pressure on the joints and reduce the possibility of swelling.
For pregnant women, we need to make sure the computer monitor and desk are just adjusted with the proper height which may produce no pressure on the growing belly. For pregnant women, it is also necessary to get a wrist rest with the keyboard because it is more likely for pregnant women to develop carpal tunnel syndrome characterized by painful hands or wrists when their job involves too much typing.
When the belly gets bigger, it is necessary to keep all the essential office stuff within easy reach. It is really necessary to sit in an ergonomic chair that can offer flexible movement for pregnant women. More importantly, pregnant women need to take more breaks, stretching and walking around.

ReplyDeleteThis is the most wonderful office chair that I have ever seen. My Dad had a massive stroke 20 yeas ago and is paralyzed on his right side. He is able to play on his computer until he gets tired and then recline in his chair and take a nap!
